The story was ok not great. I will not pay $5 for the next one. It is not that good. Also, full of cursing. Way to much, it does not speak well for the author's command of language. He could find a better way to express his thoughts. Also the story spends way to much time talking about a gay relationship between two men that are not really that important characters to the story line. Feel like an agenda instead of an import part of the story line. If I had to take back the time i wasted reading this book I WOULD! A real disappointment and a real waste of time. I'm a longtime science fiction reader. I picked up Terminus Cycle (the first in the trilogy) when Walsh released it a number of years ago. It was well done and interesting conceptually.As much as I enjoyed Terminus Cycle, Cydonia Rising is simply on a different level.There are ample perspective characters so the book never gets boring. It moves from person, to person, from locale, to locale. You see monk cities cloaked in perpetual darkness, desert tribes in need of medicine, space vikings who are surprisingly good at making pastries, a robot with an emerging soul, and more.The story is intricate but never complicated for the sake of it. The writing is clean. Sometimes "self-published" can be a red flag but this isn't one of those cases. This is a professional-quality book and dedicated sci-fi fans and hobbyist readers alike owe it to themselves to pick this up.5/5 pulsaxes to the face!
