Spoiler* Let's be clear...This was a book about rape, sex, a sex carnival, and unfaithful men and women who literally slept with every man or woman mentioned in the book. One of the " brothers" had a mother who was shared by two of the other brothers plus his father? WTF!? Gag. I can't even put into words what it was. There was no romance whatsoever between the protagonists until the very last chapter because until then, it was completely about hate and the male, King, had her identity wrong and was given a task by the people who knew who she was all along making his task redundant. The plot was redundant. Who in the world would be captured, messed with so much, and then be forced to perform certain acts for entertainment in a carnaval and be all...oh, well, whatever...and then when it's clear she has to perform sex acts in a carnival, she actively participates and goes the extra mile by willingly sucking D* of the men who are "brothers" of the male protagonist while he gets his sucked by someone else. I have no idea why this book would get four stars let alone five....why in the heck is cheating\multiple partners considered a great addition to books. Also, a glaring grossness...There was a statement in the book that everyone had literally slept with each other at one point or another and then we find out they are all connected and from the same families. Gross. If books are going to be all about sex, then shouldn't they all have STDs? This was a distasteful book that made me feel the need to shower. It didn't even have good bones. There wasn't much substance to the male protagonist, he was given a task and we never really knew what his task was, I'm guessing her murder?...the task was given by people who deceived him because they knew it wouldn't be fulfilled because they HAD THE WRONG PERSON AND KNEW IT...so everything in the book didn't have to happen and it could have skipped to the end and been done in 10 sentences off less. I guess this is one instance where the author relied on the old sex sells gimmick. All sex, no substance and people are gasping at what a good book it was? Really? I gave it two stars because of some of the back ground characters. Maybe it makes me the strange one, but I like a bit more substance to my stories and plots that end up redundant are not really it. This author is a NO. To be fair I think the author is very talented and came up with a very unique story. The quality of writing is very good. However I found the relationship between the F and the M to be God awful. Now that is to be somewhat expected in a dark romance, but I also expect there to be some kind of reason for F to fall for M. And there is no reason to fall for this guy. He's mean, cruel, arrogant, deceitful and awful. He's truly awful. The only redeeming quality the author gave him was he's beautiful. F doesn't even understand why she's drawn to him, just that she is. She helpless against it, her body responding before her head. Now if that happened once in a while, sure. But it's all the time! I'm sorry, that just sounds like a child with no self control and makes it hard to respect her.Now the main reason I don't like this book is hard to describe and should be considered a SPOILER. I'll do my best to couch everything as vaguely as I can so as not to ruin the details but if you hate any kind of hint as to storyline you should not read my review. As with most romances, especially the darker ones, there comes a point after the F and M come to care about each other (despite the fact he treats her badly the entire time) that the M does something that shatters the F's trust in him. She's devastated. Answers to questions are finally revealed and you finally get to know WHY. And after all the crap she has gone through and put up with you would think the reason would be a really good one, fantastic even. You know, so you could understand the M and WHY he was being an epic a$$. In my opinion the reasoning was awful and full of holes. It just doesn't make sense! He thought she was someone who was going to be with someone else (his brother) but it turns out he's wrong! She's supposed to be with him. And She just found out that he tricked her so he could serve her up to someone else! So their relationship is seriously screwed. So how do they get over it? How do they overcome something so devastating? Easy! Insert a villain, have the F get kidnapped/abducted and have M save her. Yeah! Now all relationship problems can magically swept aside! Now the F is totally into having a relationship but she has to CONVINCE M. SHE HAS TO CONVINCE HIM?! It's ridiculous! He never even apologizes or shows remorse. I mean, you get his POV, every once in a while and he THINKS sad thoughts, but his actions and behavior are completely different! I found the F to be weak and chasing after someone who reluctantly wanted her back and the M was an a$$ with little to no redeeming qualities. I found the whole thing to be confusing, aggravating, and overall disappointing.
